Ingredients
- 1 pound hot bulk pork sausage
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 3/4 cup regular grits
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 14 ounces jar of pizza sauce
- 10 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 large green pepper, chopped
How To Make grits italiano

Step 1Brown sausage and ground beef in a large skillet, stirring until it crumbles; drain well.

Step 2Cook grits according to package directions; spoon into a lightly greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish.

Step 3Combine pizza sauce, salt, pepper and garlic powder.

Step 4Layer half each of pizza sauce, meat, green pepper, onion and cheese over grits.

Step 5Repeat layers, omitting remaining cheese.

Step 6Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes.

Step 7Add remaing cheese and bake uncovered, an additional 5 minutes.
