Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds pork belly, cut into 4 portions
  • 4 tablespoons whole grain mustard
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 inch piece ginger, grated
  • 1/2 tablespoon chili crisp
  • 3 scallions, large chop
  • chives, for garnish

How To Make ginger braised pork belly

  • Step 1
    Rub the whole grain mustard all over the pork belly and let it sit at room temperature for 1 hour.
  • Step 2
    Mix the soy sauce, honey, sugar, ginger, chili crisp, and garlic.
  • Step 3
    Place a Dutch oven on the stove. Place a little olive oil in the pan and add the pork belly skin side down. Let the fat render off and get crispy for about 30 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Turn the pork belly over and add the soy sauce mixture. Add a cup of water and cover.
  • Step 5
    Cook over low heat for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
  • Step 6
    Cook uncovered the last 30 minutes.
  • Step 7
    Remove from the sauce and garnish with chives.
