This sauce is very popular among my family members and friends. The fresh herbs are the key! It's a great way to have a delicious, but simple meal for a large group.

  • 1 lb
    sweet italian sausage
  • 1 lb
    ground pork
  • 1 medium
    onion - minced
  • 1
    sweet red pepper - chopped
  • 4 clove
    garlic - minced
  • 32 oz
    chopped tomatoes
  • 32 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 12 oz
    tomato paste
  • 1 c
  • 2 tsp
  • 3 Tbsp
    fresh chopped parsley
  • 1 Tbsp
    fresh chopped basil
  • 1 Tbsp
    fresh chopped oregano
  • 1 Tbsp
    fresh chopped marjoram
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1/4 tsp
    red cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    hot red pepper flakes
  • 1 large
    can of sliced mushrooms

How to Make Gina's Spaghetti Sauce


  1. Brown meat with onion, pepper and garlic. Drain excess fat.
  2. In large pot, add all ingredients, except mushrooms. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 2 to 4 hours, making sure to stir occasionally. Don't let it stick!
  3. About 10 minutes before serving, add mushrooms.
  4. This makes about 2 1/2 quarts of sauce.
