Ingredients

  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup gingersnap cookies, crushed
  • 1/2 cup onion, minced
  • 3 tablespoons dried parsley flakes
  • 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds, crushed
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 pound pork sausage in a roll
  • 1 - large tomato, thinly sliced

How To Make german-style sauerbraten meat loaf

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl, combine eggs, gingersnap crumbs, onion, parsley, balsamic vinegar, salt and caraway seed.
  • Step 2
    Add the ground beef and pork sausage and mix well. Gently press the meat mixture into a loaf pan; preferably one with a insert to keep the grease at the bottom of the pan. Top with the sliced tomato.
  • Step 3
    Bake meatloaf at 400 degrees F for 60-70 minutes or until meatloaf registers 160 degrees. Remove from the pan and cut into slices.
