  • 1/4 cup minced white onion
  • 4 tablespoons dark brown sugar, packed
  • 4 tablespoons irish whiskey
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup ham stock (better than bouillon)
  • - pepper to taste

How To Make gammon steaks with whiskey sauce

  • Step 1
    Heat grill.
  • Step 2
In a medium sauce pan melt butter.
  • Step 3
Brush ham steaks with butter-reserve the rest.
  • Step 4
Saute onions in remainder of butter until cooked.
  • Step 5
Remove from heat and whisk in flour gradually.
  • Step 6
Slowly whisk in stock, return to heat.
  • Step 7
Add sugar and bring to the boil.
  • Step 8
Reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes.
  • Step 9
Add Whiskey and season with pepper.
  • Step 10
If sauce is to thick, add a little bit more whiskey from your glass. Stop whining and just do it.
  • Step 11
Take your glass and ham steaks to the grill.
  • Step 12
Grill steaks for 3-4 minutes per side-you want nice golden grill marks, not grilled steak black grill marks.
  • Step 13
    Plate and serve with sauce.
