gammon steaks with whiskey sauce

Ingredients
- 4 slices ham steaks, 1 inch thick
- 1/4 cup minced white onion
- 4 tablespoons dark brown sugar, packed
- 4 tablespoons irish whiskey
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3/4 cup ham stock (better than bouillon)
- - pepper to taste
How To Make gammon steaks with whiskey sauce

Step 1Heat grill.

Step 2In a medium sauce pan melt butter.

Step 3Brush ham steaks with butter-reserve the rest.

Step 4Saute onions in remainder of butter until cooked.

Step 5Remove from heat and whisk in flour gradually.

Step 6Slowly whisk in stock, return to heat.

Step 7Add sugar and bring to the boil.

Step 8Reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes.

Step 9Add Whiskey and season with pepper.

Step 10If sauce is to thick, add a little bit more whiskey from your glass. Stop whining and just do it.

Step 11Take your glass and ham steaks to the grill.

Step 12Grill steaks for 3-4 minutes per side-you want nice golden grill marks, not grilled steak black grill marks.

Step 13Plate and serve with sauce.
