FRICKADELLARS (Danish Style Meatballs)

These are really good meatballs , I like to serve them on a bed of rice or buttered pasta. I got this recipe from my Grandma Rose years ago and still make them several times a year.

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2 lb
    ground pork
  • 3 medium
    potatoes , cooked and mashed
  • 1 medium
    onion , finely chopped
  • 2 1/2 c
    flour ; divided
  • 1
    egg , beaten
  • 4 Tbsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1 can(s)
    cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
  • 1/2 c
    mushrooms , sliced ; optional

How to Make FRICKADELLARS (Danish Style Meatballs)


  1. Combine all the ingredients EXCEPT 1 cup flour , soup and mushrooms.
  2. Shape mixture into 32 meat balls ; Roll in 1 cup flour.
  3. Fry in hot grease until browned.
  4. Place meat balls in a greased casserole in layers with soup between each layer.
  5. Top with mushrooms.
  6. Bake @ 325° for 1 hour.
