frickadellars (danish style meatballs)

These are really good meatballs , I like to serve them on a bed of rice or buttered pasta. I got this recipe from my Grandma Rose years ago and still make them several times a year.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 3 medium potatoes , cooked and mashed
  • 1 medium onion , finely chopped
  • 2 1/2 cups flour ; divided
  • 1 - egg , beaten
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms , sliced ; optional

How To Make frickadellars (danish style meatballs)

  • Step 1
    Combine all the ingredients EXCEPT 1 cup flour , soup and mushrooms.
  • Step 2
    Shape mixture into 32 meat balls ; Roll in 1 cup flour.
  • Step 3
    Fry in hot grease until browned.
  • Step 4
    Place meat balls in a greased casserole in layers with soup between each layer.
  • Step 5
    Top with mushrooms.
  • Step 6
    Bake @ 325° for 1 hour.
