sauerkraut, rinsed, drained
1/2 c
brown sugar

onions, thinly sliced
2 medium
tart green apples, peeled, cored and sliced
4 small
celery stalks, sliced
3 c
pale ale
1/2 tsp
fennel seeds
1/2 tsp
cinnamon
1/2 tsp
cloves
1/2 c
dry sherry

How to Make GERMAN PORK CHOPS BAKED

Step-by-Step

  • 1Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2Spread drained sauerkraut evenly over bottom of
    9 x 13 inch baking pan.
  • 3Sprinkle with brown sugar; add pork chops in a single layer.
  • 4Toss together sliced onions, apples and celery in medium bowl.
  • 5Spread evenly over pork chops.
  • 6Add beer.
  • 7Combine fennel seeds, cinnamon and cloves in small bowl.
  • 8Sprinkle over vegetables.
  • 9Cover pan with foil.
  • 10Bake 1 1/2 hours.
  • 11Remove foil; pour sherry over chops.
  • 12Continue to cook, uncovered, 30 minutes.
  • 13Serve with boiled potatoes or spaetzle.
