ellen's tailgater hot ham & cheese
I conjured this recipe up years ago in honor of Notre Dame football and the famous tailgate parties. You can do this on the grill or in the oven. Either way, these sandwiches are to die for! With football season coming, I definitely will have to dust off this recipe.

How To Make ellen's tailgater hot ham & cheese
-
Step 1Tear 8 12-inch squares of aluminum foil and place a bun bottom in the center of each. Place about 4 ounces of ham on each bun.
-
Step 2Place 2 ounces of Swiss and 2 ounces of cheddar cheese on top of ham.
-
Step 3Lay two dill stackers on top of cheese.
-
Step 4Apply generous amount of Dijon mustard to the cut side of bun tops and place bun top over sandwich, pressing down firmly.
-
Step 5Bring sides of aluminum foil up and over, covering the entire sandwich and pinching to seal.
-
Step 6Place the foil packs on a large cookie sheet and bake in a preheated 400-degree oven for 10 minutes. Serve immediately and enjoy! You may also place on a hot grill for 15 minutes or so if cooking outdoors.
-
Step 7Serve with chips, potato salad, soup, whatever strikes your fancy. These are especially good on a crisp autumn day!
