easy red beans and rice

I got this recipe a few years ago from my secretary and my family just loves it. They make it for their own families now.lt is also a good dish to take to a potluck dinner. You never bring any home and it's a good idea to copy the recipe for hand outs because you will be asked. It's easy, but tastes like you spent all day on it.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound jimmy dean sausage {maple flavored)
  • 3 cans red beans
  • 3 packages brown gravy mix
  • 3 tablespoons creole seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon ground, black pepper (optional)
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 packages success rice, cooked and drained

How To Make easy red beans and rice

  • Step 1
    Cook rice, drain and put aside
  • Step 2
    In a large skillet or dutch oven, brown sausage...Drain if you need to.
  • Step 3
    Add in the three cans of red beans. You do not need to drain them
  • Step 4
    Mix the three packages of gravy mix with the three cups of water. Stir well and pour into the bean mixture.
  • Step 5
    Stir until mixture thickens....Add creole seasoning and pepper (if needed). Stir in rice. Serve with hot bread and a salad....Wonderful comfort food...
