Stove Top


  • 1 lb
    red beans (or you can use kidney beans)
  • 1 c
  • 4 c
    water or stock
  • 1
  • 1 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • ·
    large dash of hot sauce
  • 2
    bay leaves
  • dash(es)
    garlic powder
  • 1/2 lb
    cubed ham
  • 1 lb
    sliced sausage ( i use kielbasa or andoulli)
  • 1 clove
    garlic, crushed
  • 1 c
    chopped celery
  • 1 c
    chopped onion

How to Make Donna's Red Beans N Rice


  1. Boil 1 Minute a 1 Pound Bag of Red Beans In 1 Cup Water.
    Let Sit, for 1 hour. pour the water off the beans and add 4 cups of water or stock.
  2. Add Ham Bone, 1 t Worcestershire sauce, large dash of Tabasco, dash of garlic powder, 2 bay leaves.
  3. Saute 1 clove garlic, 1 c chopped celery and 1 c chopped onions. Add to beans. Add pepper to taste.
  4. Simmer several hours.
  5. Saute 1/2 pound of cubed ham meat and 3/4 to 1 lb sausage, sliced (I would use a kielbasa or andoulli).
    Add to beans during the last hour of cooking.
  6. Serve over hot cooked rice. Freezes well.
