A good friend shared this recipe with me. She gave me the ingredients to make Alot of the spices which I keep in a shaker bottle and add the seasoning to taste for this recipe. I will post the spice ingredients on the next post.

Ingredients For crockpot red beans and rice

    bag red beans
  • 1
  • 1 lb
    ground chuck
  • 1 can
    diced tomatoes
  • 1
    hillshire sausage,cut up
  • seasoning to taste

How To Make crockpot red beans and rice

    Soak red beans in cold water for one hour.

    Add the ham hock and seasonings and cook on high for 1-2 hours. Then cut the heat to low setting for overnight cooking.

    In the morning brown 1 lb of the ground chuck, drain and add to the beans/ham hocks/water.
  • 4
    add the can of diced tomatoes and the hillshire sausage cut up to the beans and simmer for most of the day.

    Serve over hot rice.
