Crockpot Red Beans and Rice

A good friend shared this recipe with me. She gave me the ingredients to make Alot of the spices which I keep in a shaker bottle and add the seasoning to taste for this recipe. I will post the spice ingredients on the next post.

bag red beans
1 lb
ground chuck
1 can(s)
diced tomatoes
hillshire sausage,cut up
seasoning to taste


1Soak red beans in cold water for one hour.
2Add the ham hock and seasonings and cook on high for 1-2 hours. Then cut the heat to low setting for overnight cooking.
3In the morning brown 1 lb of the ground chuck, drain and add to the beans/ham hocks/water.
4add the can of diced tomatoes and the hillshire sausage cut up to the beans and simmer for most of the day.
5Serve over hot rice.
