Creamy Ham and Noodle Bake

This was my late mother-in-law's favorite, and when she was expected to recover from cancer, I made a great big pan of this as a "welcome home from the hospital" meal. My in-laws, with whom she stayed with, are particular about what they eat, but when my sister-in-law sampled it, she went right back for seconds. This might become one of your family's favorite, too.

4 oz
medium egg noodles
1 Tbsp
cooking oil
2 c
ham steak, cut into cubes and fat trimmed.
1 medium
green pepper, chopped
1/2 c
onion, chopped
1/4 c
celery, chopped
1 can(s)
condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 c
sour cream
1 c
cheddar cheese, shredded

How to Make Creamy Ham and Noodle Bake


  • 1Preheat the over to 350 degrees. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain.
  • 2Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, and cook ham and next three ingredients for 5 minutes, stirring often.
  • 3Remove from heat; stir in soup, sour cream, and pasta. Spoon into a 9 in baking dish
  • 4Cover and bake for 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese, and bake, uncovered, 5 more minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving to allow mixture to thicken and sauce to cook.
