creamy ham and noodle bake

This was my late mother-in-law's favorite, and when she was expected to recover from cancer, I made a great big pan of this as a "welcome home from the hospital" meal. My in-laws, with whom she stayed with, are particular about what they eat, but when my sister-in-law sampled it, she went right back for seconds. This might become one of your family's favorite, too.

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces medium egg noodles
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 2 cups ham steak, cut into cubes and fat trimmed.
  • 1 medium green pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup celery, chopped
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

How To Make creamy ham and noodle bake

  • Step 1
    Preheat the over to 350 degrees. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain.
  • Step 2
    Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, and cook ham and next three ingredients for 5 minutes, stirring often.
  • Step 3
    Remove from heat; stir in soup, sour cream, and pasta. Spoon into a 9 in baking dish
  • Step 4
    Cover and bake for 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese, and bake, uncovered, 5 more minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving to allow mixture to thicken and sauce to cook.
