This is a different take on the “Sloppy Joe”. It’s good and cheesy. It can be served open-face or in hamburger style accompanied with chips, pickles, coleslaw or any other side that you prefer.

Ingredients For cheeseburger sloppy joes

  • 1 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1/2 lb
    ground italian sausage (mild or hot)
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 8 oz
    cheddar or velveeta cheese, cut into small cubes
  • 1/4 - 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1 sm
    onion, diced
  • 1 sm
    bell pepper, seeded and diced
  • 1 - 2
    jalapeno peppers, seeded and diced
  • 1 Tbsp
    minced garlic
  • 10 - 12
    hamburger buns or your favorite bun
  • shredded cheddar cheese for garnish (optional)
  • chopped green onion for garnish (optional)

How To Make cheeseburger sloppy joes

    In a large pan on medium heat, brown the beef and sausage; drain and return to the pot.

    Add the salt, black pepper, onion, bell pepper, jalapeno and garlic. Stir and cook for 3 or 4 minutes until onion starts to soften.

    Add cubed cheese and milk and cook on medium low heat until cheese is melted, stirring constantly so cheese won’t scorch.

    Serve hot beef mixture on warm hamburger buns along with your favorite chips, pickles, cole slaw, etc.
