This is one of my favorite “go-to” meals to prepare. It’s simple, easy to prepare and it’s delicious.

prep time 30 Min
cook time 1 Hr 40 Min
method Stove Top
yield 3-6 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 stick butter
  • enough oil to cover the bottom of your pan (i used olive oil) 1 c chopped onion 1/2 c chopped celery 1/2 c chopped bell peppers 1 c tony chachere brown gravy mix (prepared as directed on the container) 2 bay leaves onion powder garlic powder
  • package of pork chops (bone in)

How To Make bridgette's smothered pork chops

  • Step 1
    1. Heat you pan and add oil and butter.
  • Step 2
Season the chops with onion powder and garlic power
  • Step 3
    3. Add the chops to hot oil. I fried on one side for 3 minutes then the other side for 2 minutes and removed to continue frying the rest of the pork chops.
  • Step 4
    4. Set pork chops to the side
  • Step 5
    5. Add celery and bell peppers to the pan and sauté for 5 minutes.
  • Step 6
    6. Add onions and fry for 5 minutes
  • Step 7
    7. Add gravy to the pan and let simmer for 5 minutes
  • Step 8
    8. Return chops to gravy and let simmer for 1 hour or until the chops are as tender as you desire. I like my chops very tender, almost “falling off the bone”.
  • Step 9
    9. Serve with with rice and corn or peas and potato salad and ENJOY!
