beef ribs or short ribs
salt and pepper
3 Tbsp
vegetable oil
12 clove
garlic, smashed
1
inch pc. ginger, peeled into 1/4" slices
12 oz
ale
4 Tbsp
rice vinegar
2 c
hoisin sauce
1 c
water

How to Make Braised Hoisin Ribs with Beer

Step-by-Step

  • 1Season the ribs with salt and pepper. Heat the oil in a pot with a lid over high heat. Brown the ribs on all sides Remove the ribs from the pot
  • 2Return the pot to the stove, and saute the garlic and ginger on med. heat for about 3 mins. Add the ribs, beer, vinegar and water to the pot. Stir and then cover and simmer for 2 hours.
  • 3Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • 4Pour the Hoisin sauce over the ribs, move the pot to the oven, and cook uncovered for 30 mins.
  • 5Remove ribs and ginger from the sauce and pour the remaining sauce over the ribs for extra flavor.
