  • RUB

  • 2 Tbsp
  • 2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp
    ground coriander
  • 2 tsp
    ground mustard
  • PORK

  • 5 lb
    pork butt roast
  • 2 bottle
    amber ale beer
  • 6 clove
    garlic minced

  • 1 c
    each ketchup and dark brown sugar
  • 4 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 3 Tbsp
    whole grain mustard
  • 2 Tbsp
    apple cider vinegar

How to Make Braised BBQ Pulled Pork


  1. Mix the spices together for the rub. Rub the mixture all over the pork butt. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  2. Preheat oven 500 degrees. Place the pork butt into a baking pan with sides. Bake for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and turn oven down to 325 degrees.
  3. Pour the bottles of beer over the pork and sprinkle in the chopped garlic. Cover with foil and poke holes to vent. Braise another three hours or until roast shreds easily.
  4. Mix the BBQ sauce ingredient together with the pan drippings in a saucepan on the stove. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 20 to 30 minutes to reduce and thicken. Mix the shredded pork into the BBQ sauce and serve on buns.
