Different but awesome! My daughter gave me this recipe many years ago. I always bake my ham like this when it is requested on holiday's. DAY BEFORE PREP IS NEEDED!

Ingredients
- DAY 1 OF PREPARATION:
- 2 liters diet or regular ginger ale
- 12 ounces diet or regular maple syrup
- 2 - oranges with peels, cut into quarters
- 2 - apples with skins, cored & cut into quarters
- 2 teaspoons file powder (spice)
- - whole ham
- DAY 2 OF PREPARATION:
- 1 to 2 cups reserved liquid
- 1/4 cup sugar free or regular brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons regular mustard
How To Make baked ham

Step 1DIRECTIONS FOR DAY 1....

Step 2Put above ingredients in a large pot with ham. Simmer "uncovered" for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Step 3Keep turning ham & baste frequently. Do not cover!

Step 4Remove ham from pot & refrigerate overnight. Reserve liquid in a sealed container & refrigerate also.

Step 5DIRECTIONS FOR DAY 2....

Step 6Combine above ingredients & pour over ham in a baking dish.

Step 7Bake in a preheated oven at 325 degrees for 30 minutes to 1 hour, basting occasionally.

Step 8Remove from oven; cover with foil & let stand for 10 minutes before slicing.
