Ingredients
- 2-3 pounds pork loin roast
- 3-4 slices bacon
- MARINADE:
- 2 - green onions, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1-2 - star anise
- 1 tablespoon chili paste (hot, mild or mixed)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1/4 cup white wine
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 1 cup water
How To Make bacon-wrapped asian pork roast
-
Step 1Mix marinade in a large zip-loc bag. Lightly score pork loin surface. Place pork in marinade for 3-6 hours. DO NOT marinade overnight since the tannic acid in the wine will break the meat proteins down, wiping out the flavor & giving the meat a bit of an unpleasant mealy texture.
-
Step 2Preheat your grill or oven to 350F. Remove meat from marinade & wrap in the bacon slices.
-
Step 3Roast the pork on the grill until done, or on a grill plate in the oven until internal temp reaches 165F. Watch pork especially on the grill since the fat dripping from the bacon can catch fire & burn the bacon or roast.
-
Step 4Remove pork from the heat & allow to rest on a cutting board for 15 minutes. Slice & serve.
