This is an Asian dish, with some Western influences, provided by yours truly. Depending on your personal tastes, you might make this recipe with ground beef, chicken, or pork… up to you. Plus, you can stir in some veggies and make it a complete meal. My pork version was a hit with my guests, and I am considering putting it on my catering rotation. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

How To Make asian essentials: sweetly caramelized ground pork

    PREP/PREPARE
  • Step 2
This recipe calls for a white onion; however, I found it too overpowering, so I substituted a yellow onion. If you have a Vedalia onion, that would be perfect. I am using an Anaheim chili, but you could use something hotter or milder; that is your choice. You want about 3 tablespoons of chopped chili. I love coconut sugar, but this recipe would work just as fine with traditional brown sugar. Tamari sauce versus liquid aminos. I post this option in many of my recipes. Both of these ingredients are similar… they are a lite version of soy sauce. The main difference is that tamari sauce sometimes contains gluten, and liquid aminos do not.
