Apple, Onion & Sage Pork Chops

Great fall recipe. Love to serve gravy over mashed potatoes. The recipe works well with any cut of pork.

  • 4
    1 inch think pork chops
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    sage, dried
  • 1/2 tsp
    minced, dried garlic
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried thyme
  • 1 medium
    onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 medium
    apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 c
    apple juice
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    vegetable oil

How to Make Apple, Onion & Sage Pork Chops


  1. Mix flour, all of the spices and salt. Reserve 1 tablespoon of seasoned flour mixture. Coat pork chops with remaining seasoning.
  2. Cook pork chops in 2 tbs of oil in a large skillet on medium high heat until browned on both sides. Remove from skillet.
  3. Add onion and cook until they start to caramelize. Add apple and cook with onion until apple is tender.
  4. Add reserved flour mixture and brown sugar to juice mix until sugar and flour is disolved. Pour over apples and onions in skillet.
  5. Return pork chops to the skillet, bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 30 minutes until pork is tender.
