apple, onion & sage pork chops

Great fall recipe. Love to serve gravy over mashed potatoes. The recipe works well with any cut of pork.

Ingredients

  • 4 - 1 inch think pork chops
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon sage, dried
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced, dried garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 medium apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

How To Make apple, onion & sage pork chops

  • Step 1
    Mix flour, all of the spices and salt. Reserve 1 tablespoon of seasoned flour mixture. Coat pork chops with remaining seasoning.
  • Step 2
    Cook pork chops in 2 tbs of oil in a large skillet on medium high heat until browned on both sides. Remove from skillet.
  • Step 3
    Add onion and cook until they start to caramelize. Add apple and cook with onion until apple is tender.
  • Step 4
    Add reserved flour mixture and brown sugar to juice mix until sugar and flour is disolved. Pour over apples and onions in skillet.
  • Step 5
    Return pork chops to the skillet, bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 30 minutes until pork is tender.
