We love a Motor City Pizza. I buy them at our local grocery store, but sometimes they are out of stock. I wanted an easy way to make my own without the 2-day process of making the crust that I find all over the internet. That is when I saw people making pizzas in their 6 qt oval slow cookers, but it wasn't turning out very well. I have a CrockPot 13x9 slow cooker, and it is perfect for making the Motor City pizzas. I hope y'all enjoy it as much as we do. My son even likes the leftovers cold the next morning for breakfast.

How To Make crock pot motor city pizza

  • Step 1
Preheat your covered Crock Pot on high while you prep the ingredients for the topping.
  • Step 2
Add the oil to the warmed crock insert. Spread it around and up the sides, or spray it on the sides and bottom.
  • Step 3
Unwrap and unroll the pizza dough into the oiled crock. Press it into the corners and along the sides. Sprinkle on the seasoning/herbs. Poke the dough all over with your fingers.
  • Step 4
Cover the crock insert with a thick, clean kitchen towel. Make sure it is long enough to hang over the edges of the crock insert. Do not let the towel touch the dough.
  • Step 5
Replace the lid. Tug the towel edges to make the towel taught/tight.
  • Step 6
Set a timer for 1 hour. This will bake the bottom side and rise the crust.
  • Step 7
At the end of that hour, remove the lid and let it sit to drain the water from underneath/inside. Remove the towel. Check the underside of the crust for browning; it should be lightly golden. Flip the crust. Rotate the insert.
  • Step 8
Add the toppings in the order listed, starting with spraying the oil on the crust top and the crust edges. Make sure the cheese is heavy around the edge of the crust (you want it to brown against the insert). Cover the insert with the towel. Replace the lid. Tug the towel so it is taught and not sagging onto the toppings. Set a timer for 1 hour.
  • Step 9
After one hour, remove the lid and towel as before; the pizza should be done. Move the pizza from the insert by scraping the entire edge with a spatula or plastic silicone pan scraper to loosen all the browned cheese. Then pick up each end of the pizza with a spatula and lift it from the insert onto a cutting board. Cut into 12 pieces and serve.
