Ingredients

  • 6 ounces vermicelli, uncooked
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 - eggs, well beaten
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 8 ounces stewed tomatoes
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 3/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 cup cottage cheese, creamed
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 8-12 slices pepperoni

How To Make vermicelli pie

  • Step 1
    Cook vermicelli according to package directions; drain.
  • Step 2
    Stir butter and parmesan cheese into hot vermicelli.
  • Step 3
    Add eggs, stirring well.
  • Step 4
    Spoon into a greased 10-inch pie plate.
  • Step 5
    Use a spoon to shape noodles into a pie shell.
  • Step 6
    Bake at 350 degrees, uncovered, for 9 minutes or until set.
  • Step 7
    Combine beef, onion and green pepper in a large skillet.
  • Step 8
    Cook over medium heat until meat is browned, stirring to crumble; drain well.

    Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste and seasonings.
  • Step 10
    Cover and cook 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 11
    Spread cottage cheese evenly over pie shell.

    Top with meat sauce.

    Cover with foil, and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes; sprinkle with mozzarella, and top with pepperoni.

    Bake, uncovered, about 5 minutes.

    Let stand servings.
