~ Swiss Tuna Noodle Casserole ~ From Scratch!

Cassie *

This awesome dish was created by me and might I add it was fantastic. So creamy and flavorful. I decided to add Swiss cheese to the white sauce, and am I ever glad I did. It went well with the tuna and added a delicious flavor to the sauce.

My son was my inspiration for this dish and he loves Swiss Cheese. I decided to also add some to the topping.

I love cooking in cast iron and it turned out fantastic & not a lot of dirty dishes and that's always an added bonus!

I do hope you try this casserole, I don't believe you will be disappointed.

How to Make ~ Swiss Tuna Noodle Casserole ~ From Scratch!

  • 1Boil your noodles and drain. Set aside.
  • 2Preheat oven to 350 degree F.

In a large oven proof skillet over medium heat, melt butter. ( I use my 9 inch iron skillet. ) - Once bubbly add the celery, mushrooms, onion and garlic. ( I added a pinch of salt & pepper. ) - Stir and cook until tender and mushrooms are no longer leaving off moisture.
  • 3Stir in the flour to coat the vegetables and cook for another minute. Make sure not to burn.
  • 4Start whisking in the milk and cream. Bring to a boil, then simmer until thickened. Stir in the cheese and keep stirring until melted.
  • 5Stir in the dill, salt, pepper, parsley, mustard, lemon pepper seasoning, peas and tuna. Combine well.

Stir in noodles and simmer a few more minutes then remove from heat.
  • 6In a small bowl, mix the crumbs and cheese and sprinkle evenly over the tuna mixture.

Place in oven and bake for 10 - 15 minutes or until bubbly. If not brown, place under broiler for another couple minutes until golden.
  • 7Carefully remove from oven and i let it set up for a few minutes. May need additional Salt & pepper.

Now, dig in! It's delicious...I loved the addition of Swiss cheese as it went well with the tuna.
