I created this delicious burger casserole recipe and I decided to use sharp cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag frozen mini onion rings, thawed
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 tablespoon hamburger seasoning
  • 12 ounces uncooked ziti
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium red onion, diced
  • 2 pounds ground chuck
  • 1 tablespoon montreal steak seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup half and half
  • 3/4 cup steak sauce
  • 3/4 cup honey mustard
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned pepper

How To Make sharp cheddar burger casserole

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Coat a 4-quart baking dish with cooking spray. Add thawed mini onion rings into the bottom,sprinkle with 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese and season with hamburger seasoning.
  • Step 3
    Cook ziti pasta according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  • Step 4
    Heat avocado oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add ground chuck and diced red onion and cook for 6 minutes until browned.
  • Step 5
    Add steak seasoning, oregano, basil and seasoned pepper; stir to coat the ground chuck mixture.
  • Step 6
    In a large bowl, combine heavy cream, half and half, steak sauce, honey mustard and seasoned pepper; whisk well for 4 minutes until blended.
  • Step 7
    Mix in ground chuck mixture and cooked ziti together until combined.
  • Step 8
    Pour evenly into prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with remaining shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
  • Step 9
    Bake until the cheese is melted, about 30 minutes.
