Ingredients

  • 1 - onion, chopped
  • 2 - garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3 cans tomato sauce, 8 ounces
  • 1 can mushrooms, stems and pieces
  • 1/2 cup green pepper, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup snipped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried basil leaves
  • 1/8 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 cup dry red wine
  • 1 package spaghetti
  • - parmesan cheese, grated
  • MEATBALL INGREDIENTS
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 3/4 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 tablespoon snipped fresh parsley
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

How To Make spaghetti with meatballs

  • Step 1
    SPAGHETTI: Heat oil in dutch oven.
  • Step 2
    Cook and stir onion and garlic in hot oil until onion is tender.
  • Step 3
    Stir in tomato sauce, mushrooms (with liquid), green pepper, parsley, salt, pepper, sugar, basil and oregano.
  • Step 4
    Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
  • Step 5
    Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, 1 hour.
  • Step 6
    Stir in wine.
  • Step 7
    Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes.
  • Step 8
    Uncover and simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes longer.
  • Step 9
    While sauce is simmering, prepare meatballs.
  • Step 10
    While meatballs are cooking, cook spaghetti as directed on package; drain but do not rinse.
  • Step 11
    Spoon meatballs onto spaghetti; cover with sauce.
  • Step 12
    Serve with cheese.
  • Step 13
    MEATBALLS: Mix all ingredients except oil.
  • Step 14
    Shape by rounded tablespoonfuls into balls.
  • Step 15
    Heat oil in 10-inch skillet.
  • Step 16
    Cook meatballs in hot oil until done, about 20 minutes.
