Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 - garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 3 cans tomato sauce, 8 ounces
  • 1 can mushrooms, stems and pieces
  • 1/2 cup green pepper, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup snipped fresh parsley
  • 2.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried basil leaves
  • 1/8 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 cup dry red wine
  • 1 package spaghetti
  • - parmesan cheese, grated

How To Make spaghetti with meat sauce

  • Step 1
    Heat oil in dutch oven.
  • Step 2
    Cook and stir beef, onion and garlic in hot oil until beef is light brown; drain off fat.
  • Step 3
    Stir in tomato sauce, mushrooms (with liquid), green pepper, parsley, salt, pepper, sugar, basil and oregano.
  • Step 4
    Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
  • Step 5
    Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, 1 hour.
  • Step 6
    Stir in wine.
  • Step 7
    Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes.
  • Step 8
    Uncover and simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes longer.
  • Step 9
    While sauce is simmering, cook spaghetti as directed on package; drain but do not rinse.
  • Step 10
    Pour meat sauce over hot spaghetti.
  • Step 11
    Serve with cheese.
