    olive oil
  • 1.5 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2 c
    onion, finely chopped
  • 2
    garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 3 can(s)
    tomato sauce, 8 ounces
  • 1 can(s)
    mushrooms, stems and pieces
  • 1/2 c
    green pepper, finely chopped
  • 1/4 c
    snipped fresh parsley
  • 2.5 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1/8 tsp
    dried basil leaves
  • 1/8 tsp
  • 1 c
    dry red wine
  • 1 pkg
  • ·
    parmesan cheese, grated

How to Make Spaghetti with Meat Sauce


  1. Heat oil in dutch oven.
  2. Cook and stir beef, onion and garlic in hot oil until beef is light brown; drain off fat.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, mushrooms (with liquid), green pepper, parsley, salt, pepper, sugar, basil and oregano.
  4. Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
  5. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, 1 hour.
  6. Stir in wine.
  7. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes.
  8. Uncover and simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes longer.
  9. While sauce is simmering, cook spaghetti as directed on package; drain but do not rinse.
  10. Pour meat sauce over hot spaghetti.
  11. Serve with cheese.
