spaghetti casserole
I took my spaghetti and meat sauce recipe and layered it in a casserole dish and baked it in the oven for something a little different. I love baked pasta dishes.

Ingredients
- 8 -12 oz package spaghetti, cooked per pkg directions & drained
- 1 large jar spaghetti sauce, or homemade
- 1 teaspoon each seasoning -oregano, chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon basil, dried
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 1/2 pounds ground chuck
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, coarse ground
- 1 small onion, sauteed, optional
- 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped, optional
- 1 tablespoon butter, optional
- 1-1 1/2 cups mozzerella, parmesan and/or cheddar cheese
How To Make spaghetti casserole

Step 1Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Drain. Set aside.

Step 2Brown ground chuck. Drain. Add salt, pepper,oregano, chili powder and basil. Add tomatoes. OPTIONAL: Saute' onions and bell pepper in butter; Add to meat.

Step 3Combine meat and sauce in pan.

Step 4In casserole dish or 9x13 baking pan, pour just enough sauce to cover the bottom well. Add layer of cooked spaghetti. Top with more sauce and cover with foil.

Step 5Bake at 350 degrees approximately 35 minutes. Remove from oven and top with cheese of your choice or combination. Bake an additional 5-10 minutes uncovered.
