There are zillions of lasagna recipes out there and I think I've tried most of them. But, I keep coming back to this one as the best. It was given to me many, many years ago by a dear next door neighbor.

Ingredients For sherry's lasagna

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 can
    28 oz whole tomatoes with juice
  • 1 can
    12 oz tomato paste
  • 2 tsp
    garlic salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    oregano, dried
  • 2 c
    cottage cheese
  • 1 c
    grated parmesan cheese, divided
  • 12 oz
    mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 12 oz
    lasagna noodles cooked/drained
  • 1 tsp
    basil, dried

How To Make sherry's lasagna

    Saute meat, drain. Add tomatoes (breaking up), tomato paste, garlic salt, oregano and basil. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes.

    Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.

    In mixing bowl, stir together the cottage cheese and half of the grated parmesan cheese.

    Set aside 1/2 cup of the meat sauce and 1/2 cup of the parmesan cheese.

    In ungreased baking pan, alternate layers of pasta, meat sauce, mozzarela cheese and cottage cheese mixture.

    Spread the reserved meat over the top. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese and the 1/2 cup of mozzarela.

    Bake, uncovered for 45 minutes, then let stand for 15 minutes. Enjoy.
