sharon's spaghetti sauce

This is my Mom Sharon's spaghetti sauce recipe. She was born in Brooklyn and lived on Long Island. She wrote this down for my wedding cookbook and I cherish it so. Use a large pot, it makes a lot. She would say "to give away to someone".

Ingredients For sharon's spaghetti sauce

  • 28 oz
    can of tomato puree preferably contadina
  • 3-4 can
    6 oz tomato paste preferably contadina
  • 3 can
    water for each can of paste
  • 1 Tbsp
    oregano
  • 3-4 clove
    chopped garlic
  • 1
    onion chopped
  • 1/2 c
    shredded parmesan
  • to taste
    salt and pepper
  • 2 lb
    gr. beef, sweet italian sausage or none for marinara
  • 1
    bay leaf

How To Make sharon's spaghetti sauce

    Brown onions and meat being careful not to burn
  • 2
    Then add all the remaining ingredients
  • 3
    Simmer for a minimum of 2 hours
