Ingredients

  • 1 package cheese smoky links, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 28 ounces can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 sprig rosemary
  • 1 stalk thyme
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • salt and pepper
  • 10 ounces ditalini pasta
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese shredded

How To Make sausage pasta

  • Step 1
    Place the olive oil in a large pot. Add the cut-up sausage and cook until browned. Remove to a plate.
  • Step 2
    Add the onion and garlic. Cook 2 minutes. Add the tomato paste and stir to combine. Add the chicken stock and crushed tomatoes.
  • Step 3
    Throw in the bay leave and sprigs. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer and simmer 20 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Meanwhile, cook the pasta in salted water. Drain and add to the tomato mixture.
  • Step 5
    Add the sausage back and remove the bay leaves and sprigs. Stir in the cheese.
