This recipe was the creation of my wonderful friend Roger, a disabled vet. Bless his heart, he was so sick, his list of things that he could eat or enjoy eating was very short. He loved macaroni and cheese - but not just any macaroni and cheese - it HAD to be this combination. Please enjoy in Roger's memory. A quiet, peaceful, loving man who was taken from us far too young. His memory lives on for me in making this dish as I did so many times for him. Everyone loves this combination!

Ingredients

  • LAYER 1
  • 1 package kraft homestyle macaroni and cheese
  • LAYER 2
  • 1+ cup shreaded medium cheddar cheese
  • LAYER 3
  • 1+ cup french's french fried onions

How To Make roger dilley mac & cheese

  • Step 1
Prepare HOMESTYLE mac and cheese according to package directions. When finished, put into 9x9 baking dish. Top with bread crumbs supplied with meal.
  • Step 2
Layer a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  • Step 3
Layer a generous amount of fried onions on top of cheese. Bake in a 375 degree oven only until the onions start to brown. Maybe 5 minutes at the most. Onions will burn if left in too long. This oven is lower than recommended on the package of mac and cheese because of the onions. You might have to play with it depending on your oven.
  • Step 4
Say a thank you to all of our vets and enjoy!
