robin's marvelous meat sauce for pasta

I made up this recipe when I wanted a really good meat sauce for pasta, but couldn't get to my favorite italian restaurant.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef or ground bison
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 10 ounces baby portebello mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cans crushed tomatoes (28 oz. each can)
  • 1 can tomato paste (12 oz.)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 teaspoons italian seasoning
  • 1/8 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

How To Make robin's marvelous meat sauce for pasta

  • Step 1
    Heat olive oil in a large pot (on medium high), brown the ground beef (drain off fat if necessary). Add the minced garlic and all other herbs & seasonings to the pot. Continue to cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, balsamic vinegar, and water & stir well. Turn the heat to low & simmer for about 1 hour. Stir as needed. Serve over your choice of pasta noodles.
