Use a good quality red wine. The bolder the taste the bolder the flavor of the spaghetti. This is yummy.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 bottle merlot red wine
  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese plus more for serving
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil chopped
  • - salt and pepper

How To Make red wine spaghetti

  • Step 1
    Measure 1/4 cup of wine and set aside. Combine the water and the remaining wine in a large pot. Bring to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente about 15 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water. Drain the pasta .
  • Step 3
    In a large skillet add the olive oil. Add the garlic and saute 30 seconds. Add the reserved pasta water and reserved wine to the pan.
  • Step 4
    Add the spaghetti to the skillet and then the butter. Cook until butter is melted. Add the Parmesan, and basil. When the Parmesan is melted taste and adjust for salt.
  • Step 5
    Serve with more Parmesan
