quick shells and bean dinner

This has been a long time favorite,that always "hits the spot" in our family!It's a hearty,tasty dish and really doesn't take long to make either.Nice served with a salad and italian bread!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound medium shell pasta (3cups)
  • 1 medium onion,chopped
  • 1 medium green pepper,seeded and chopped
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1 can 28oz size,whole tomatoes,undrained
  • 1 pound can red kidney beans,undrained
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • - parmesian cheese to sprinkle on top when served

How To Make quick shells and bean dinner

  • Step 1
    Cook Medium shells as per package directions.Drain and set aside.
  • Step 2
    Add onion,pepper and ground beef in a skillet.Cook until meat is browned.Drain excess fat.
  • Step 3
    Add remaining ingredients,EXCEPT the shells.Simmer this for about 20-25 min.Sometimes might need to add a very small amount of water.
  • Step 4
    During the last 10min's of cooking the above mix,add the cooked shells.Mix and heat all thru,stirring as needed. Serve with some grated Parmesian cheese on top.
