I make this dish with leftover ham from Christmas and Easter. Everyone always looks forward to it. I've tweaked it from the original recipe but found that my tweaks made it taste out of this world!

Ingredients For pretty penne ham skillet

1 lbuncooked penne pasta

3 ccubed fully cooked ham

1 lgsweet red pepper, diced

1 mdonion, chopped

1/4 cminced fresh parsley

2 clovegarlic, minced
-
1 1/2 tspminced fresh basil or 1/2 tsp. dried basil

1 1/2 tspminced fresh oregano or 1/2 tsp. dried oregano

1/4 colive oil
-
3 Tbspbutter
-
1/2 Tbspham flavored soup base
-
2 cwater
-
1 Tbsplemon juice
-
1/2 cshredded parmesan cheese
How To Make pretty penne ham skillet

1Cook pasta according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, saute the ham, red pepper, onion, garlic, parsley, basil and oregano in oil and butter for 4-6 minutes or until ham is browned and veggies are tender.

2Stir in ham base, water and lemon juice. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes or until liquid is reduced by half. Drain pasta; stir into ham mixture. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
