ground chuck
1 medium
onion, chopped
1/2 medium
green pepper
16 oz
tomato sauce
16 oz
tomatoes, canned whole, drained and cut up
garlic cloves, crushed
1 medium
onion, chopped
bay leaf
oregano to taste
worcestershire sauce
pepper sauce or 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper to taste
red wine
parmesan cheese
8 oz
mushrooms, halved
4 oz
macaroni, cooked
6 slice
american cheese
chives, chopped

How to Make Poor Man's Lasagna


  • 1Brown beef, onion and green pepper; drain.
  • 2Saute mushroom halves in separate pan and cook pasta al dente.
  • 3Add everything to the beef mixture but the last 3 ingredients.
  • 4Simmer to blend flavors for 1/2 hour.
  • 5Add macaroni to pot and stir.
  • 6Spoon into greased 1-1/2 quart casserole.
  • 7Top with cheese.
  • 8Bake at 375 until cheese is bubbly, about 10-15 minutes.
  • 9Sprinkle with chives and serve with garlic bread
