    ground chuck
  • 1 medium
    onion, chopped
  • 1/2 medium
    green pepper
  • 16 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 16 oz
    tomatoes, canned whole, drained and cut up
  • 4
    garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 medium
    onion, chopped
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • ·
    oregano to taste
  • ·
    basil
  • ·
    marjoram
  • dash(es)
    worcestershire sauce
  • dash(es)
    pepper sauce or 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper to taste
  • dash(es)
    red wine
  • ·
    parmesan cheese
  • 8 oz
    mushrooms, halved
  • 4 oz
    macaroni, cooked
  • 6 slice
    american cheese
  • ·
    chives, chopped

How to Make Poor Man's Lasagna

Step-by-Step

  1. Brown beef, onion and green pepper; drain.
  2. Saute mushroom halves in separate pan and cook pasta al dente.
  3. Add everything to the beef mixture but the last 3 ingredients.
  4. Simmer to blend flavors for 1/2 hour.
  5. Add macaroni to pot and stir.
  6. Spoon into greased 1-1/2 quart casserole.
  7. Top with cheese.
  8. Bake at 375 until cheese is bubbly, about 10-15 minutes.
  9. Sprinkle with chives and serve with garlic bread
