pierogi lasagna
A real Polish comfort food! This is not a diet dish! A wonderful cross between Pierogi and Lasagna... or as some of my family call it... Pierogi Hot Dish.... or Easy Pierogi What ever you choose to call it... is fine... just don't call me late for dinner! Add or subtract ingredients... experiment! Play With Your Food! xo

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef (browned)
- - garlic powder, ground black pepper and salt to taste
- 1/2 pound bacon
- 2 large onions
- 5 cups mashed potatoes
- 12 - 16 ounces sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 1 box lasagna noodles (cooked acording to package aldente)
- 1 stick butter
- 1 large ring polish sausage (sliced into coins)
- 1 can (15 ounces) sauerkraut
How To Make pierogi lasagna

Step 1Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Step 2Fry the bacon and drain on paper towels. Crumble into small pieces. Set aside.

Step 3In the same skillet: Cook together the ground beef and the onions. Drain, as you remove with a slotted spoon, put in a bowl and set aside.

Step 4In the same skillet: Fry the sausage coins. Set aside.

Step 5Heat up the mashed potatoes. Set aside.

Step 6Boil the lasagna noodles. Rinse and drain. Butter generously the sides and bottom of a 13x9 inch baking pan. Put a layer of Lasagna noodles in the pan. Add a layer of mashed potatoes, drizzle with a little melted butter, sprinkle on some shredded cheddar cheese, sprinkle on some of the ground beef and onion mixture. Sprinkle lightly with ground black pepper and garlic powder.

Step 7Lay down a second layer of lasagna noodles. Sprinkle with sauerkraut. Evenly distribute the sausage coins.

Step 8Lay down the third layer of lasagna noodles. Add another layer of mashed potatoes. Drizzle with melted butter, sprinkle with shredded cheese, sprinkle with any remaining meats, sprinkle with cheese and top with the crumbled bacon.

Step 9Bake 35 minutes until bubbly and cheese is well melted.
