Penne with Spicy Tomato sauce
The original recipe came from Canadian Living Cookbook but I tweaked it to my own liking.
It has become a favorite in our house and I always serve it at special occasions and I always get rave reviews.

3 Tbspolive oil
4 clovegarlic , minced
1/2 tspred pepper flakes
1 can(s)28 oz plum tomatoes pureed
1/3 cchopped fresh basil and cilantro
1 lbpkg penne
1 Tbspbrown sugar or to taste
1/2 cfreshly grated parmeasn cheese
How to Make Penne with Spicy Tomato sauce
- In a lge dutch oven saute garlic and add pepper flakes and cook till fragrant...be careful not to burn!!
Add pureed tomatoes, s/p and simmer till thickened.
Stir in half the basil and cilantro.
Meanwhile cook your penne. Drain well.
Pour sauce over noodles and top with remaining fresh basil and parmesan cheese. Serve with a crisp green salad. So delicious!!
