Ingredients For penne w/tomatoes & basil - bobby flay

2 Tbspcanola oil

1/2 lgspanish onion diced

4 clovegarlic made into paste

1 28 oz. canplum tomatoes

8 ozpenne pasta

pinchkosher salt & black pepper to taste

3/4 cplus 3/4 c. parmigiano or romano cheese
-
1/4 cflat leaf parsley, finely chopped
-
12fresh basil leaves, torn
-
1/4 to 1/2 tspcalabrian red chile flakes
-
extra virgin olive oil for drizzling
-
1/2 cfresh ricotta cheese, for garnish
How To Make penne w/tomatoes & basil - bobby flay

1Put a pot of water up to boil for pasta - add kosher salt cook until 1 or 2 minutes before pkg directions (al dente)

2Cook onion & garlic in canola oil. Add can of plum tomatoes and break them up...then add salt, pepper, cheese, parsley, basil leaves (torn) & the red chile flakes (optional)...simmer sauce about 15 min.

3Drain cooked pasta, then add into the sauce in pan....mix pasta with the sauce....drizzle with a bit of olive oil....add fresh ricotta for garnish if desired
