Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1 - garlic clove
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 28 ounces tomatoes, canned
- 8 ounces tomato sauce
- 6 ounces tomato paste
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon basil
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon parsley, dried flakes
- 1 pound lasagna noodles
- 1 pound cottage cheese
- 2 - eggs
- 1 cup parmesan cheese, grated
How To Make patsy's true italian lasagna

Step 1Heat the oil in a large heavy sauce pan.

Step 2Saute onions and garlic for 5 minutes.

Step 3Stir in ground beef, cook over medium heat until browned.

Step 4Add salt, tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, water, basil, oregano, sugar and parsley.

Step 5Bring to a boil and simmer for 45 minutes.

Step 6Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions.

Step 7Add a tablespoon oil while cooking to prevent sticking.

Step 8Drain, rinse and cool.

Step 9Blend cottage cheese and egg in bowl.

Step 10Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Step 11Grease a 13 x 9.5 x 3 inch baking pan.

Step 12Arrange alternate layers of sauce, lasagna, cottage cheese/egg mixture mozzarella, finishing with sauce.

Step 13Sprinkle with parmesan or romano cheese.

Step 14Bake for 35 minutes at 375.

Step 15Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Step 16NOTE: For the lazy mans\' alternative, use uncooked noodles and add 1 3/4 cup of water to dish before baking.
