pasta with crab or shrimp
There is nothing in this dish that we don't love. We have been making this for many years, and we do mix it up once in a while by switching the asparagus out for broccoli, and the crab switches to shrimp. We started making this when we lived on the beach in Oregon. We caught crab weekly, and that's how it began. Whether you choose to go with the crab or the shrimp, it's always a pretty dish, and on top of that, it tastes great! Serve it with a nice green salad or some freshly baked hot rolls, and your tummy will be very happy.

How To Make pasta with crab or shrimp
-
Step 1NOTE: If fresh asparagus is not available, use broccoli and shrimp in place of the crab and asparagus - that also makes a really delicious dish!
-
Step 2Cook pasta in salted water just until al dente.
-
Step 3Reserve 1 cup of the pasta water, then drain the rest away. Rinse the pasta, then drain well and set aside.
-
Step 4Place the 2 Tbsp of butter into the same pot you just used for the pasta and melt it over medium heat.
-
Step 5When the butter is melted, add the mushrooms and asparagus. Saute gently until asparagus is tender.
-
Step 6Add the minced garlic and pepper and cook for about 1 minute - do not let that garlic burn.
-
Step 7Add the wine or chicken broth, then add the crab or shrimp. Stir and simmer for 1 minute.
-
Step 8Add the pasta and stir to combine.
-
Step 9Add the last 2 Tbsp of butter and Parmesan cheese and stir to combine and heat through for 2 minutes. If using shrimp, cook until the shrimp is done, which should be right about that 2-minute mark.
-
Step 10Add more chicken broth if the sauce is too thick. Serve hot with a sprinkling of dill weed, Parmesan cheese, and snipped chives as garnish.
