Ingredients
- 1.5 cups onions, diced
- 1/4 cup water
- 3/4 cup celery, chopped
- 1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 2 - garlic cloves, minced
- 4 cups tomatoes, chopped
- 3 cups tomato sauce
- 2 cups tomato puree
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1.5 teaspoons dried basil
- 1 - bay leaf
- - "just a pinch" of salt
- - "just a pinch" of pepper
- 1 pound spaghetti, uncooked
How To Make pasta with chunky tomato sauce

Step 1Heat the water (or may us olive oil instead) in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook the onions for 5 to 6 minutes, then add the celery, green pepper, mushrooms, and garlic and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Step 2Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato puree and stir until the sauce is well blended.

Step 3Add the herbs, salt, and pepper and simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes.

Step 4Cook the pasta according to package directions.

Step 5Remove the bay leaf from the sauce and serve with pasta.
