spaghetti, uncooked

How to Make Pasta with Chunky Tomato Sauce


  • 1Heat the water (or may us olive oil instead) in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook the onions for 5 to 6 minutes, then add the celery, green pepper, mushrooms, and garlic and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  • 2Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato puree and stir until the sauce is well blended.
  • 3Add the herbs, salt, and pepper and simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes.
  • 4Cook the pasta according to package directions.
  • 5Remove the bay leaf from the sauce and serve with pasta.
