Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion small dice
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil plus more for garnish
  • 8 ounces spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/3 cup freshly grated parmigiano reggiano plus more for garnish

How To Make pasta pomodore

  • Step 1
Place the olive oil in a large pot. Add the onion and cook for about 5 minutes until softened. Add the garlic and stir. Add the tomatoes and salt. Cook over low heat stirring occasionally until thickened. About 15 minutes. Stir in the basil.
  • Step 2
Meanwhile cook spaghetti in a pot of boiling salted water. When spaghetti is almost al dente take a pair of tongs and transfer the spaghetti to the sauce no need to drain. If the sauce is too dry add more pasta water or if it's to watery let it cook a little longer.
  • Step 3
Add the cheese and butter and let it melt. Serve garnished with basil and Parm
