Ingredients

  • 1 ounce ground beef
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 can tomatoes, 28 ounces
  • 3/4 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 can mushrooms, stems and pieces, 4 ounces
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 package thin spaghetti, 7 ounces
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

How To Make one-skillet spaghetti

  • Step 1
    Cook and stir meat and onions in large skillet or dutch oven until meat is brown.
  • Step 2
    Drain off fat.
  • Step 3
    Stir in tomatoes (with liquid) and remaining ingredients except cheddar cheese; break up tomatoes.
  • Step 4
    TO COOK IN SKILLET: Heat mixture to boiling.
  • Step 5
    Reduce heat; cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until spaghetti is tender, about 30 minutes.
  • Step 6
    (A small amount of water can be added if necessary.)
  • Step 7
    Sprinkle with cheese.
  • Step 8
    Cover and heat until cheese is melted.
  • Step 9
    TO COOK IN OVEN: Pour mixture into ungreased 2 or 2 1/2-quart casserole.
  • Step 10
    Cover and bake in 375 oven, stirring occasionally, until spaghetti is tender, about 45 minutes.
  • Step 11
    Uncover; sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and bake about 5 minutes.
