My family loves the pasta and sausage. I love the clean-up. I use the same pot to cook the pasta, cook the sausage and to make the sauce.

  • 1 lb
    pasta of choice
  • 1 lb
    italian sausage links
  • 2 can(s)
    tomatoes diced (28oz.)
  • 1 can(s)
    tomato paste
  • 1
    onion, diced
  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp
    italian seasoning
  • 2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 pinch
    red pepper flakes
  • 1 c
    freshly grated cheese
  • 3 c
    water, divided

How to Make One Pot Pasta


  1. Cook pasta al dente, drain and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, brown and cook sausage using 1 cup water. (Simmer 30 mins.) Remove from pan. Cut sausage links into 2-3inch pieces.
  3. Using the same pan, saute onions in olive oil until soft. Add tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Add diced tomatoes, 2 cups water, and seasonings. Cook for 30 minutes.
  5. Place pasta in large serving bowl. Add half the sauce to the pasta and top with the cooked sausage.
  6. Serve with grated cheese and the remainder of the sauce.
