My family loves the pasta and sausage. I love the clean-up. I use the same pot to cook the pasta, cook the sausage and to make the sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pasta of choice
  • 1 pound italian sausage links
  • 2 cans tomatoes diced (28oz.)
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 1 - onion, diced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon italian seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup freshly grated cheese
  • 3 cups water, divided

How To Make one pot pasta

  • Step 1
    Cook pasta al dente, drain and set aside.
  • Step 2
    In the same pan, brown and cook sausage using 1 cup water. (Simmer 30 mins.) Remove from pan. Cut sausage links into 2-3inch pieces.
  • Step 3
    Using the same pan, saute onions in olive oil until soft. Add tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Add diced tomatoes, 2 cups water, and seasonings. Cook for 30 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Place pasta in large serving bowl. Add half the sauce to the pasta and top with the cooked sausage.
  • Step 6
    Serve with grated cheese and the remainder of the sauce.
