This is my mothers recipe that's been shared by all through the years. It's quick and easy and makes the creamiest baked macaroni..the kids will love it.

Ingredients For mom's baked macaroni & cheese

  • 1 lb
    american cheese, white or yellow shredded
  • 3 c
  • 6 Tbsp
  • 6 Tbsp
  • 12 oz
    elbow macaroni, cooked and drained

How To Make mom's baked macaroni & cheese

    In medium saucepan melt margerine over low heat and mix in flour. Add milk, increase to medium heat until the milk is hot. minutes until the sauce is thickened.

    Add shredded cheese by handfuls stirring constantly with whisk until all of the cheese is melted. Stir and heat an additional 5 minutes.

    Remove from heat, add elbows and stir thoroughly then pour into a 9X13 casserole dish. Sprinkle bread crumbs or grated parmesan on top if desired. Bake covered for 20-25 minutes in 350 degree oven.
