If you a fan of beef and cheese, I created a nickname for this new casserole recipe filled with beef stew meat, penne pasta covered in chili sauce, cheeses, and cornbread pieces on the bottom.

Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh cornbread pieces
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 teaspoons Creole seasoning, divided
- 3 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces
- 1 medium purple onion, diced
- 1 large red bell pepper,chopped
- 2 tablespoons steak seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon steak sauce mixed with brown sugar
- 8 ounces uncooked penne pasta
- 3/4 cup chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cans cheddar cheese soup
- 8 ounces cream cheese,softened
- 1 medium carrot, chopped
- 1 cup shredded mexican cheese blend
- 3/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
How To Make messy shorthorn (beef and cheese casserole)

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add cornbread pieces and press it down with a spoon.

Step 3Heat olive oil and creole seasoning in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add beef stew meat, cook, and saute for 8 minutes or until no longer pink.

Step 4Stir in diced purple onion, chopped red bell pepper, steak seasoning, garlic powder and steak sauce/brown sugar. Remove from heat.

Step 5Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook penne pasta in the boiling water, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes;drain.

Step 6Transfer to a large bowl, add chili sauce, crushed red pepper flakes, and 1 teaspoon creole seasoning; mix well.

Step 7In a medium bowl, combine heavy cream, soup, cream cheese, chopped carrot and remaining creole seasoning; whisk together for 2 minutes until blended.

Step 8Add half of beef mixture into a prepared baking dish and layer with penne pasta mixture. Spread half of cheese sauce. Repeat the layers. Top with cheeses.

Step 9Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes until the cheeses are melted.
