Ingredients
- 5 cups water
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 3 cups egg noodles
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup dry bread crumbs
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup green bell pepper, diced
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup swiss cheese, grated
- 8 ounces tomato sauce
- 4 ounces mushrooms, drained

Step 1In a deep, 3-quart, heat-resistant, non-metallic casserole place 5 cups water, 1 tablespoon salt and 3 cups uncooked noodles.

Step 2Heat, covered, in microwave oven 12 minutes or until noodles are tender.

Step 3Stir occasionally.

Step 4Drain noodles and set aside.

Step 5In a large, heat-resistant, non-metallic mixing bowl, me1t 1/4 cup butter in microwave oven 30 seconds.

Step 6Add bread crumbs and heat, uncovered, in microwave oven 1 1/2 minutes or until bread crumbs are golden brown.

Step 7Add meat to bread crumb mixture and mix to combine well.

Step 8Heat, uncovered, 5 minutes or until meat is browned, stirring occasionally so meat crumbles.

Step 9Add onions, green pepper, garlic salt, salt and pepper.

Step 10Blend into meat mixture thoroughly.

Step 11Heat, uncovered, in microwave oven 2 minutes.

Step 12In a 2-quart, heat-resistant, non-metallic casserole layer cooked noodles with meat mixture.

Step 13Top with cheese, tomato sauce and mushrooms (in that order).

Step 14Heat, uncovered, in microwave oven 8 minutes or until cheese melts.
