  • 4 Tbsp
    peanut oil
  • 1/2 lb
    flank steak or shrimp or chicken
  • 2
    celery stalks cut diagonally in thin slices
  • 2
    ginger slices, minced
  • 1 c
  • 1
    green onion, minced with tops
  • 2 tsp
  • 1/2 lb
    spaghetti or chinese noodles
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 Tbsp
    soy sauce, light
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt, optional

How to Make Lo Mein


  1. Cook spaghetti as directed on package, al dente, drain, rinse in cold water, add a few drops oil and mix to keep from sticking.
  2. Set aside.
  3. Slice steak very thin, across the grain, 2 inch pieces.
  4. Mix together, steak, ginger, onions, cornstarch, sugar and light soy, set aside to marinate.
  5. Heat wok to smoking, add 2 tablespoons oil.
  6. Stir fry meat mixture two minutes, do not overcook.
  7. Reserve.
  8. Add 2 tablespoons oil, heat, stir fry carrots and cabbage two minutes, add spaghetti, stir well and cook a few minutes, add meat mixture, 1 tablespoon soy and salt.
  9. Stir a minute to heat and serve.
