Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons peanut oil
  • 1/2 pound flank steak or shrimp or chicken
  • 2 - celery stalks cut diagonally in thin slices
  • 2 - ginger slices, minced
  • 1 cup cabbage
  • 1 - green onion, minced with tops
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 pound spaghetti or chinese noodles
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce, light
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, optional

How To Make lo mein

  • Step 1
    Cook spaghetti as directed on package, al dente, drain, rinse in cold water, add a few drops oil and mix to keep from sticking.
  • Step 2
    Set aside.
  • Step 3
    Slice steak very thin, across the grain, 2 inch pieces.
  • Step 4
    Mix together, steak, ginger, onions, cornstarch, sugar and light soy, set aside to marinate.
  • Step 5
    Heat wok to smoking, add 2 tablespoons oil.
  • Step 6
    Stir fry meat mixture two minutes, do not overcook.
  • Step 7
    Reserve.
  • Step 8
    Add 2 tablespoons oil, heat, stir fry carrots and cabbage two minutes, add spaghetti, stir well and cook a few minutes, add meat mixture, 1 tablespoon soy and salt.
  • Step 9
    Stir a minute to heat and serve.
