4 Tbsp
peanut oil
1/2 lb
flank steak or shrimp or chicken
celery stalks cut diagonally in thin slices
ginger slices, minced
1 c
green onion, minced with tops
2 tsp
1/2 lb
spaghetti or chinese noodles
1/2 tsp
1 Tbsp
soy sauce, light
1/2 tsp
salt, optional

How to Make Lo Mein


  • 1Cook spaghetti as directed on package, al dente, drain, rinse in cold water, add a few drops oil and mix to keep from sticking.
  • 2Set aside.
  • 3Slice steak very thin, across the grain, 2 inch pieces.
  • 4Mix together, steak, ginger, onions, cornstarch, sugar and light soy, set aside to marinate.
  • 5Heat wok to smoking, add 2 tablespoons oil.
  • 6Stir fry meat mixture two minutes, do not overcook.
  • 7Reserve.
  • 8Add 2 tablespoons oil, heat, stir fry carrots and cabbage two minutes, add spaghetti, stir well and cook a few minutes, add meat mixture, 1 tablespoon soy and salt.
  • 9Stir a minute to heat and serve.
