Ingredients

  • 1 pound italian sausage, mild
  • 4 cups spaghetti sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chives, fresh/chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 - egg
  • 8 ounces lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound mozzarella, slices
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, grated

How To Make lazy-day overnight lasagna

  • Step 1
    Brown sausage in large skillet; drain well.
  • Step 2
    Add spaghetti sauce and water.
  • Step 3
    Blend well.
  • Step 4
    Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Step 5
    In medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, chives, oregano and egg.
  • Step 6
    Mix well.
  • Step 7
    In bottom of ungreased 13x9-inch (3-quart) baking dish or lasagna pan, spread 1-1/2 cups of meat sauce.
  • Step 8
    Top with half of the noodles, half of the ricotta cheese mixture and half of the mozzarella cheese.
  • Step 9
    Repeat with remaining noodles, ricotta cheese mixture and mozzarella cheese.
  • Step 10
    Top with remaining meat sauce.
  • Step 11
    Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
  • Step 12
    Cover.
  • Step 13
    Refrigerate overnight.
  • Step 14
    Heat oven to 350 (Uncover baking dish. Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until noodles are tender and casserole is bubbly.)
  • Step 15
    Cover.
  • Step 16
    Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
  • Step 17
    NOTE: Can easily substitute ground beef for sausage AND cottage cheese for ricotta.
